BEFORE
In February of 2022 I was introduced to a family in Cardiff, CA who hoped to turn their neglected beach house into a rental property.
I began renovating and staging the house with the aid of a colleague and a small (but mighty) construction team.
The 4 bedroom house sits on the beach with 180 degree views of the coast line and is now rentable on Air Bnb.
Story
House in Feb 2021
When we initially met the clients for this project, they had been living at the site for many years. The 4 bedroom house has 180 degree views of the coast line, but most of the views had been covered or blocked.
Soon after we were hired, the clients moved out and gave us full creative control of the project.
To ensure the end result met their expectations, we created budget and timeline spreadsheets that we used to allocate finishes, fixtures and furniture for the entire house.
We connected the clients with a contractor who used our drawings and directions to execute our vision.
We chose materials that felt conducive to ‘beach living’ and opened up the view with La Cantina doors so that the full coastline was visible.
The goal was to create a costal vibe that was sophisticated but inviting.
We filled the home with furniture and objects we found at consignment stores and vintage markets. Our staging budget for the entire house (interior & exterior) was 40k and we came in just below that. The home is filled with a mix of new and used- stemming from our desire to make the space feel unique and timeless.
